A Raffles Udaipur wedding starts the moment guests step onto the boat. The city falls away, and a private island appears on Udai Sagar Lake. It is a lovely way to begin a celebration.
We planned Utkarsh and Urvashi’s wedding here, so this guide comes from real time with the property. You will find a picture of the island, décor ideas, a gentle look at guest travel and budget, and seven questions couples often bring to the hotel.
Raffles Udaipur sits on a 21-acre private island in Udai Sagar Lake, just outside the old city. It has 137 rooms and suites. It was the first Raffles in India, and it holds Two MICHELIN Keys.
The grounds are as pretty as those facts suggest. A formal garden with a fountain leads up to the palace facade, and it glows at sunset. Inside, a domed corridor leads to the in-house perfumery, and the grand lobby has an inlaid marble floor and a crystal chandelier. From the lake side you see domed towers and gardens.
Some villas have a private plunge pool and a garden pavilion, which family members might enjoy during a multi-day stay. There is also a dining room styled as a spice library, with jarred ingredients on display.
A palace on a lake does not need a heavy hand. The marble, domes and water are already beautiful, so décor often works best when it adds to them and keeps the architecture visible.
Some couples love a soft, pale palette with lots of white flowers. Others dream of marigolds from floor to ceiling. Both can look wonderful here once the hotel has approved the installation.
Before you settle on a concept, it helps to ask which spaces are free on your dates, what the team may build or hang, and when your vendors can get in. Our wedding décor service covers all of this.
A wedding is really several events. The welcome dinner, mehendi, haldi, ceremony, sangeet and reception each want different space, light and sound. Many couples find it easiest to ask the hotel which space each one will use before fixing the order.
Leaving real gaps between functions makes the days feel relaxed. Guests have time to change, and the crew has time to turn a room. If you are planning anything outdoors, a rain plan in writing gives everyone peace of mind, along with the date by which you would choose between plans.
For Indian and NRI families, the trip to the island has a few steps: a flight, a road transfer, the boat crossing, check-in and the first function. Writing the journey out like a timetable and sharing it with every family before they travel keeps things worry-free.

Honestly, there’s no single price for a Raffles Udaipur wedding. It moves with your dates, how many rooms you book, how many functions you plan, your guest count and whatever the hotel proposes. The best first step is a written quote from the hotel that lists rooms, meals, event spaces, taxes and any extra charges.
Then there’s everything the hotel doesn’t cover: décor, flowers, lighting, sound, entertainment, photography, guest transfers and a planner’s fee. It helps to list these early, so nothing surprises you later.
Our Udaipur and Jaipur budget guide goes deeper, and our planning fees page explains how we work.
We begin with an on-ground look at the spaces and a conversation with the family. From there we build the plan around the venue.
Develop a visual concept for floral design, styling, ceremony details and guest-facing spaces.
Organise the event schedule, responsibilities, supplier coordination and planning milestones.
Manage guest responses and event information within the agreed service scope.
Coordinate the on-the-day schedule and supplier activity in line with the approved plan.
